# Separation charts

For quick and precise measurements of hiding power. These charts have a unique **Surface** which **easily wetted by water-based or solvent-based paints** from which the **However, the dried film can be easily removed with adhesive tape** can be used, even if not so easily that undamaged free films are created.

The subtraction function enables the exact determination of the **Dry film weight** on a measured surface by weighing on an analytical balance before and after stripping the film. The **spreading rate** (H) and the **Wet film thickness** (T) can then be calculated using the following simple relationships:

Whereby: H = spreading rate (m²/L), (ft²/gal). T = wet film thickness (µm), (mils) A = Test area (cm²) D = Density of the colour (kg/L) M = dry weight of the film (g) N = non-volatile weight percentage of the applied colour

This method represents a breakthrough in terms of time savings in the precise measurement of the spreading rate (or wet film thickness) when determining hiding power.
