The Shore hardness

The Shore hardness scale is a proven method for determining the hardness or flexibility of various materials. The concept and the scale itself were invented by Albert Ferdinand Shore in the 1920s. His aim was to create a common reference point when it comes to the relative hardness of materials.

There is a choice of Shore hardness scales, including Shore A, Shore D, Shore H and Shore O, to suit different material types. Shore A and Shore D are most commonly used in the rubber and plastics industries.
