Shore durometers measure the depth of an indentation in the material caused by a certain force on a standardised pressure point. The depth depends on the hardness of the material, its viscoelastic properties, the shape of the pressure point and the duration of the test.

Models

The two durometers differ in the shape of the indenter and therefore also in the materials for which they are used.

• LD0551 TQC Sheen Durometer Shore D Hardness tester for materials such as polyester, ABS, nylon, polyurethane, Kevlar, acrylic, wood, polystyrene, etc.

Utilisation

Carrying out a Shore hardness is easy with our solution. Just follow these four simple steps:

1. Turn the adjusting screw anti-clockwise until the zero position is reached. Make sure that the indenter is loose
2. Loosen the graduation scale by loosening the adjusting screw. Turn the rotating graduation scale until the pointer is at zero
3. Hold the durometer in a vertical position above the sample
4. Press the hardness tester downwards without impact until the pressure foot is in full contact with the test object. The drag indicator shows the maximum hardness .
