Geometric-sequential multi-notch applicator for exploring the covering capacity in a single application over a wide range of applications, for comparing the change in covering capacity from wet to dry, and for investigating the influence of layer thickness on the drying speed and surface uniformity.
The Leneta Logicator is a geometric Graduated, multi-notch applicatorthe for quick visual opacity measurements was developed. It complies with ASTM method D 5007, Wet-to-Dry Hiding Change. According to this standard, the Opacity of the wet and then the dry film visually observed and the percentage increase or decrease indicated. The Logicator Chart consists of the Form 9B Opacity Display Chart with a plastic laminated header overlay specially designed to complement this applicator.

Test method for analysing the hiding power of the dry film:
After the applied coating has dried, the inspector visually or photometrically locates the critical stripe and circles the relevant parameter. It is generally recognised that the limit value for hiding power is not complete visual obscuration, but a degree of contrast that is just below complete obscuration, which corresponds to a photometric contrast ratio of 0.98.
Test method for comparing the change in hiding power from wet to dry:
The TG19 complies with ASTM method D 5007 Wet-To-Dry Hiding Change. In this standard, the hiding power of the wet film and then the dry film is visually observed and the percentage increase or decrease is specified. The complete method is available on the ASTM website.
