Adjustable micrometre film applicators

Adjustable micrometre film applicator. The applicator blade can be adjusted in 10 μm increments over a gap size of 0 to 8 mm using 2 micrometres. The micrometer applicator offers the user flexibility in setting the optimum gap size for the sample application.

This means that in other circumstances you would normally have to use multiple applicators to cover different specific film thicknesses. However, with an adjustable micrometer, you can use a single applicator to extend the measurement possibilities and cover a wider range of wet film thicknesses.

Ideally suited for research projects where small variations in layer thickness need to be accurately assessed.

The applicators are made of anodised aluminium and hardened steel and have an accuracy of ± 2 µm.

For physical reasons, the maximum applied layer thickness does not correspond to the gap size. The applied layer thickness can vary between 40 % and 80 % of the gap size. It should also be noted that the dry film thickness is lower than the wet film thickness due to the evaporation of solvent or water.
