Taber Heavy Duty Linear Abraser 5800

Taber Heavy Duty Linear Abraser 5800

The basic load of 500 grams consists of the test attachment, the splined shaft and the weight carrier. Additional weights of 1000, 2000 and 4050 grams are included in the scope of delivery and can be attached to the weight carrier to increase the test load. With its high-torque motor, the Heavy Duty Linear Abraser can take a maximum test load of 20 lbs (weight sold separately).

Other features of the Heavy Duty Linear Abraser include a slotted roller channel that allows for stroke length adjustment of up to 12.5 inches (318 mm), five preset speeds including 15, 30, 37, 45 and 60 cycles per minute, and an integrated T-slot table to secure samples during testing.

With interchangeable attachments, the Heavy Duty Linear Abraser can be configured similarly to the Linear Abraser to evaluate the relative resistance or susceptibility of a material surface to wear and abrasion, scratches, gouges, scuffs, friction and more. In addition, the device can be used for both wet and dry testing. To increase test performance, an optional second test arm kit can be added to perform two tests simultaneously.

Caution! Not all interchangeable attachments are suitable for the high test loads that are possible with the Heavy Duty Linear Abraser.

Evaluation

The tests performed with the Heavy Duty Linear Abraser using the Scotch-Brite™ Abrasive Sponges are typically performed until the surface coating has been removed down to the substrate material or a portion thereof (breakthrough). Alternatively, the tests can be carried out for a predetermined number of cycles (e.g. 10,000), with the mass loss serving as the end point.
