TQC Sheen automatic cupping tester

TQC Sheen Automatic cupping tester for performing a cupping test (Erichsen / Dent) on coated steel sheets to determine the resistance of paints, varnishes or related products to cracking and/or delamination from a metal substrate when subjected to gradual deformation by cupping under standard conditions.

The test is either used as a "pass/fail" test by testing to a certain depth, or the minimum depth at which a coating fails is defined by gradually increasing the indentation.

Constant deformation

The ISO1520 standard requires that the test panels are deformed slowly and without interruption at a uniform speed of between 0.1 mm/s and 0.3 mm/s. This is particularly true for thicker steel panels. Especially with thicker steel sheets, manually operated testing devices do not always allow uninterrupted deformation. The automatic cupping tester is driven by a microstep-controlled electric motor, which enables precise and uniform deformation in 0.01 mm steps. A unique feature is that this deformation can be paused and resumed.

Unique interface

Each automatic cupping tester is equipped with the Triple I ® navigation tool. This intelligent illuminated interface guides the operator through the TQC Sheen laboratory machines. At each step of the operating menu, the interface recognises which buttons are active and indicates this with a red illuminated centre. This creates a very intuitive operating system, which is supplemented by information on the machine's colour display.

Numerous line-ups

The automatic cupping tester has numerous setting options. The user-defined setup is optionally password-protected and statistics are displayed after each defined number of test runs. The illumination of the test specimen can also be set. To ensure maximum visibility of all possible surface types, including high gloss, matt or coloured samples, the TQC Sheen Automatic Cupping Tester is equipped with a complementary light system whose colours can be changed to achieve maximum contrast. The intensity of the LEDs is adjustable, as is the direction of the light source.
The TQC Sheen automatic depth gauge has a TQC Sheen bus connection (LinQ system not included).

Qualicoat

The cupping test is mandatory in the laboratories accredited by Qualicoat and QIB.
