TQC Sheen wet film thickness wheel

Wet film thickness measuring wheel for use on wet coatings, paints and coil-coated surfaces.

Equipped with a precision roller bearing for even rolling over the surface. The wheel has three rings, with the inner ring being eccentric to the two outer rings. The outer rings are notched to ensure a firm grip on the surface and prevent slippage. Made of stainless steel and with an aluminium handle.

Utilisation

• Hold the wheel on the centre line. Start at maximum thickness to minimise the risk of inaccuracies due to surface tension.
• Roll the wheel through the wet film with side 1 in the illustration touching the substrate. Roll for at least one full rotation and slowly enough to allow wetting to take place.
• Roll the wheel backwards by at least one full rotation.
• The thickness of the wet film is read off the scale at the end of the wetted segment of the centre ring (2 in the illustration).
• When using the wheel on pipes, measure across the longitudinal axis (perpendicular to the longitudinal direction) of the pipe.
• On rough surfaces, the measurements are taken at the surface peaks and represent the minimum wet film thickness.
