Versatile Baker film applicators

Our Baker applicators are available in film widths of 60 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm and gap depths of 15 to 200 µm. They are suitable for applying a wide range of products to flat and relatively solid substrates.

Reproducible results with the film applicator

The TQC Sheen Baker Applicator, when used with an automatic film applicator, smoothes out any peel problems caused by variations in speed, pressure and direction. It even ensures that the results are protected from being affected by the shear rate or weight of the applicator.

This means you can be sure that your film thickness is uniform over the entire surface and that the samples created with our automatic film applicators are reproducible. In addition, you can quickly produce a large number of identical laboratory precision prints.

When analysing the optical properties of a sample, the quality of the applied film is important. If you are preparing samples to test abrasion resistance, hiding power or gloss, you will be delighted with our Baker film applicator! Whatever the test, our devices minimise the risk of changes in rheological properties, application speed or printing.

Easy to use

It is really easy to achieve reliable results with our Baker film applicator.

Firstly, take your substrate, select the appropriate film applicator and place everything on a flat, smooth surface, such as a glass plate. Next, apply a colour sample to the centre of the Baker film applicator.

Now simply drag the Baker applicator over the surface.

Note that for physical reasons, the achievable wet film thickness does not correspond to the slit depth, and the thickness can vary between 40 % and 80 % of the slit depth. Also note that the dry film thickness is lower than the wet film thickness due to solvent evaporation.
