Two test options for bend testing with the cylindrical mandrel bend tester
Our cylindrical bend test is available with two different mandrel sets - a metric option and an imperial (inch/in) option.
- The metric SP1820 Cylinder bending tester is used with a Set of 14 thorns supplied. These mandrels have diameters of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 16, 19, 20, 25 and 32 mm.
- The imperial SP1822 will be equipped with a Set of seven thorns supplied. These mandrels have diameters of 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 1 inch.
How does the cylindrical mandrel bending test work?
In the cylindrical bending test, large Test plates (max. 150 mm x 100 mm)) is bent over an appropriately selected cylindrical mandrel. The smaller the diameter of the mandrel, the greater the stress on the coating. The bent test panel is then tested for cracks or damage in the coating.

The cylindrical bending testers are designed to be very easy to use. They have an ergonomic clamping device for aligning the test plates and a carefully designed lever for easy and smooth bending.
